[Scarpa] Origin VS WMN
The new “Origin” has arrived as an entry-level model that balances comfort and performance.
Compared to previous Origin models, it offers improved flexibility, making it better suited for modern climbing styles that rely heavily on finger jams. Uncommon for an entry-level model, it features a wide instep covered by the toe rubber, providing excellent toe-hook performance. It can handle advanced techniques that traditional entry-level models cannot, allowing you to use it for a long time even after you’ve moved beyond the beginner level.
The sole uses the S-72 rubber, renowned for its stickiness—the same as in the “Veloce,” a model widely used by climbers from beginners to advanced levels. It offers excellent value for the price and is also a capable training shoe for intermediate to advanced climbers.
*Regarding sizing
: Climbing shoes vary in shape (foot shape, presence or absence of a down-toe, etc.) not only between manufacturers but also between models from the same manufacturer.Due to the nature of climbing shoes—which are designed to be worn snugly enough to allow the toes to curl in order to efficiently transfer power from the feet—even slight differences in size or shape can significantly alter the fit.
Therefore, we recommend trying them on in person at a store, if possible, to confirm the fit before purchasing.
Also, if you’re buying climbing shoes for the first time, try selecting a size similar to the size of the sneakers you usually wear (your actual foot length plus 0.5–1 cm).
Please treat the size specifications in centimeters (the recommended sizes provided by each manufacturer) as a general guideline only, and take the time to find the climbing shoes that fit you best.
